It is forecast that by 2022, on-line video will account for 82% of all internet traffic. With this in mind, in order to stay relevant, companies will need to include video as part of their social media campaigns.
So why is video so important in social media?
The first reason is that video can be used as an excellent tool to hook your audience. With so much information being put out on social media every day, users are becoming more and more selective with what posts they are prepared to take the time to engage with. They want content that is interesting, concise and easy to consume.
A well-crafted video will hook your audience in the first few seconds and keep them watching. The video needs to be long enough to maintain the viewers’ attention, but short enough to keep them wanting more. It is important to state the videos intention at the beginning, so viewers are hooked before they have time to scroll away. Social media success lies in being able to condense information into easily digestible snippets of content that keeps your audience engaged and there is nothing better than video to achieve this.
