SEARCH OPTIMISATION

Last week we started a series looking at reasons why video should be an important part of your social media strategy. The first part dealt with Hooking your Audience.

The second reason why video should be an important part of your social media strategy is because it helps with Search Engine Optimisation (also known as SEO). Search engines love videos because they see them as high-quality content.

Your videos themselves will also need to be optimised properly. The best way to optimise your them is by creating compelling headlines and descriptions for your videos so they will register in searches. It is also imperative to complement these with relevant hashtags.

Twitter offers in-depth analytics for every hashtag, detailing key demographics and providing you with a great base to orchestrate your search optimisation. Ensure that you add tags to boost search results across YouTube and Facebook.

Video is a wonderful tool to increase traffic to your social media channels and can be even more effective if optimised correctly for search engines.
