Can you put a price on memories?

Can you put a price on memories?

Can you put a price on memories? Is it worth risking your family videos by choosing a “fly-by-night” company when you want them saved to a digital format?

At Look Video we have found more and more people are coming to us to convert old videos to DVDs or flash drives. Far too often we find they have waited too long and the tapes are damaged. In some cases the memories cannot be saved, but with the knowledge we have built up by doing this for over 20 years, we can usually retrieve the precious footage.

For me, one of the worst mistakes consumers make is just to choose the cheapest option. I was guilty of this mistake recently when I opted for a cheaper brand of rice – and now my family has to endure mushy rice until the packet is finished! Do you want to make the same sort of mistake with your valuable memories?

The humidity in KZN has never been kind to video tapes. Mould thrives in this environment and will seriously damage your tapes. A professional will know how to handle this problem. They will know the step-by-step process that is needed to rescue your footage. In some cases, when the tape breaks because of mould damage, they will know how to repair it and save your family videos. They will also ensure your footage is digitised and given back to you at the best possible quality.

A professional company that has been in the industry for many years has a reputation to maintain. They know that in order to stay in business, they need to keep their clients happy because word of mouth is key. As a result they go beyond the call of duty to make sure that their clients end up with a product that they are satisfied with.

So, before you go for the cheapest option, check how long the company has been in business and doing conversions. Is it a professional video company or are are they just doing it on the side? At Look Video we suggest you make sure the company is also recommended by a trusted source.
